Evan Loomis is an early-stage venture investor at Overmatch, where he focuses on deep tech, defense, and space companies shaping the future of American competitiveness.

He gravitates toward founders taking on hard problems most people won’t touch. Evan has led or backed early-stage investments in more than a dozen startups that have gone on to achieve unicorn status, including Saronic, CHAOS Industries, Impulse Space, Armada, and Nominal.

He is also a co-founder of ICON, the Austin-based construction technology company pioneering the use of advanced robotics, AI, and 3D printing to rethink how the world builds. ICON 3D-printed the first permitted home in the United States and partnered with NASA to develop technologies for humanity’s first lunar habitat.

In 2017, Evan co-founded Saturn Five, a long-term-hold investment firm focused on acquiring and operating exceptional small businesses across America. Earlier in his career, he co-founded TreeHouse, a sustainable home improvement company, and Wedgwood Circle, an angel investment group focused on media and entertainment ventures. Before becoming an entrepreneur, Evan worked in investment banking on Wall Street and served as an assistant to a former U.S. President.

Evan is the author of Get Backed, published by Harvard Business Review Press. He is a Life Member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a Kauffman Fellow, an advisor to DARPA, and serves on the board of the Texas Space Commission.

Evan holds a BBA in Finance from Texas A&M University and lives in Austin with his wife, Dr. Brandi Loomis, and their four children.
